The city is honoring the famed closer, who retired last year, by renaming the street outside Yankee stadium: River Avenue will now be Rivera Avenue.
The Yankees legend is receiving another honor: a street named after him in the Bronx. The City Council voted Tuesday to co-name one block of River Avenue to Rivera Avenue.
A 79-year-old woman was shot and wounded Monday afternoon in the Bronx.
“I don’t think we should rename it,” Craig Carton said. “And I know we all go, ‘But Craig, he was so good. He’s the best ever. We should rename a street after him.’ Why? Why am I renaming River Avenue ‘Rivera Avenue?'”
