Heyman: Yankees Agree To Sign Kelly Johnson To One-Year Deal

The Yankees have agreed to sign infielder/outfielder Kelly Johnston to a one-year deal in the $3 million range pending a physical, WFAN/CBS Sports baseball insider John Heyman reports.

There was a published report on Tuesday suggesting that Luis Hernandez would be named the Mets’ second baseman when all was said and done. Terry Collins labeled that premature, and continued to talk up the elder Luis Castillo.

Mets’ Castillo Feeling Heat From 2nd Base Competition

Luis Castillo sprinted from the Mets’ dugout, taking his spot at second base. He knows opportunities like this one are probably running out. “I got to show them I can still play. If I don’t make the team I don’t know what I am going to do,” Castillo said.
