It was a tight contest much of the way, but a 10-1 run over a 3:59 stretch midway through the second half put the Musketeers up by 10, 49-39. St. John’s battled back to pull to within four, but could get no closer.
Danny Hurley has done a tremendous job upgrading the Rhode Island roster, and now has a legitimate 10-man rotation.
If the first two weeks of league play are any indication, the Musketeers will still have a major say in how the final Atlantic 10 standings turn out.
Xavier may be the forgotten team in the Atlantic 10 but the Musketeers are much more capable than people realize.
