Around 1:10 a.m. Friday, police said the suspect came up behind an 18-year-old woman on Sedgwick Avenue in University Heights and choked her to the ground. The suspect then took off the woman’s shoes and smelled her feet before fleeing the scene, police said.
Brook Moody, 33, was a passenger in the Kia at the time. She was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with serious head and facial injuries.
The park’s tranquility was shattered on Sunday morning when a 60-year-old woman was raped during an exercise walk on a wooded trail. Park Police said that the man jumped the woman as she walked past him on the Children’s Explorer Trail.
