Lauren Delbert asked her football hero, Giants punter and occasional fitness model Steve Weatherford, to go to her June 6 prom in a Twitter post.
Baas played three games last season because of knee and neck injuries. The Giants will save more than $1.75 million in salary-cap space by cutting him.
The New York Giants limped past the lifeless Washington Redskins 20-6 in the rainy Meadowlands. New York lost quarterback Eli Manning to an ankle injury late in the first half, but rode two Jerrel Jernigan touchdowns to the victory. The loss likely ends the Mike Shanahan-era in Washington.
The Seattle Seahawks came to the Big Apple looking to maintain its position as the top seed in the NFC playoff hunt. The New York Giants had very little to play for, since they were eliminated from playoff contention last week. Seattle dominated New York defensively and shut out the G-men, 23-0, in a lackluster affair at MetLife Stadium.
Make no mistake about it. The Giants still have many elements to improve as they attempt to win their fourth consecutive game. But the Packers are reeling – with injuries on both sides of the ball.
It certainly was not pretty, but at this point in the season, style points do not matter. The New York Giants played rope-a-dope with the Oakland Raiders, and running back Andre Brown delivered the knockout punch in New York’s 24-20 victory over the Silver and Black on Sunday in a windy MetLife Stadium.
“Last year, with what I went through, I’m still sticking to my story,” Amukamara said. “That wasn’t bullying at all. That was just fun in the locker room.”
The Giants have pointed the arrow in the right direction over the past two weeks, although there’s still much work to be done following Sunday’s 15-7 road victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.
It’s been a humbling season for the Giants and punter Steve Weatherford. But somehow, after starting 0-6, they’re still in the playoff conversation.
After starting the season 0-6, the New York Football Giants have won two games in a row. New York’s defense once again did not allow a touchdown, as Michael Vick re-injured his hamstring, and rookie Matt Barkley could not rally his troops as the Giants defeated the Eagles 15-7 in Philadelphia. The win raised New York’s record to 2-6, while Philadelphia fell to 3-5 on the season.
Oh, the possibilities of what might have been had the Giants received similar efforts from the get-go. Instead, they head into the bye at 2-6, thinking about how they might scrape their way to .500.
It was another week, another late-game meltdown and another loss.
It’s one thing to lose four straight games. It’s another thing to NOT HAVE WON a game. And it’s yet another thing when you consider that the Giants haven’t tasted any sort of victory since their preseason opener.
Pick out any stat you’d like from the Giants’ embarrassing 38-0 loss to the Carolina Panthers. This game was ugly and, after an 0-3 start, it’s apparent that the team’s problems are worse than the coaching staff might have thought.
The last time an NFL team made the playoffs after starting 0-2 was in 2008. In the last four seasons, though, 0-2 has been the kiss of death.
