It has been more than three weeks of hardship for residents of Staten Island who were all but destroyed by Superstorm Sandy, but on Wednesday night, they tried to forget about it all as they enjoyed a free early Thanksgiving dinner.
Turkey dinners will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the city’s prepared food distribution sites.
Some people have already completed their shopping in preparation for cooking that Thanksgiving Day feast, while others will be waiting until the last minute.
Thanksgiving may only come once a year, but several restaurants and vendors in New York City offer their versions of classic Thanksgiving fare on a regular basis.
