DeMarco Murray did the finishing work for the Dallas Cowboys. Backup Lance Dunbar made his job a lot easier.
With a windy MetLife Stadium as a backdrop for a key NFC East matchup, the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys battled for a full 60 minutes. A Dan Bailey field goal from 32 yards out with no time remaining propelled the Cowboys to a 24-21 victory over the Giants.
The Cowboys started the Giants’ season-opening nightmare on a warm night in September and they pretty much ended New York’s dream of a miracle comeback on a cold blustery night in November.
Giants tied the Cowboys late in the fourth quarter, but then allowed Romo to drive down the field, which allowed Dan Bailey to kick the game winning FG.
The Giants’ chances of winning the NFC East would be slim if they lose, and seven losses might not be good enough to make the playoffs as a wild card.
While the Giants’ defense has been the catalyst in their amazing comeback from a dismal 0-6 start, there were concerns after last week’s win over Green Bay.
Those that didn’t give up on the New York Giants may be getting ready to receive their miracle. That group could probably fit in one large-sized taxi cab that takes them from Midtown Manhattan to MetLife Stadium.
The Giants swagger has returned, courtesy of a four-game winning streak. Even though he’s turned into a bit of a sympathetic figure, the former first-round pick still does not have many supporters. Forbes released its list of the most disliked players in the NFL on Monday, and the 26-year-old came in fifth.
Only three of the NFL’s five unbeaten teams could make it to five wins. Kansas City, New Orleans and Denver moved to 5-0 Sunday, while New England and Seattle finally lost.
The defensive line played a huge role in the Giants’ run to a Super Bowl title two years ago. It slipped a little last season as New York missed the playoffs and it’s been almost non-existent in the 0-2 start this year.
Goldson’s hit, which drew an unnecessary roughness penalty, resulted in Cumberland needing stitches to close a cut to his chin.
“It’s absolutely not true,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Monday. “Both of those payers were injured. Connor never returned to the game. Cullen was in a position where he needed to regroup. That really wasn’t orchestrated at all.”
