Triborough Bridge And Tunnel Authority
Police said a suspect who was arrested for a Staten Island carjacking after fleeing police near the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge toll plaza has now been charged with killing a man.
It happened around 1:15 a.m. on the Staten Island-bound side of the toll plaza.
Officer Thomas Choi was reopening the lower roadway of the bridge between Staten Island and Brooklyn shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday when he was hit by a car.
The suspects are charged with turning the South Shore of the Island into a veritable supermarket for drugs, with everything from oxycodone pills to cocaine and LSD for sale.
Police said the wounded officer was shot in the shoulder when four men tried to rob the business. The officer worked for the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority. He was hospitalized in stable condition.
Prosecutors said Coley collected the proper toll amounts from large axle vehicles, but recorded smaller amounts and kept the change.
