Former Weber State linebacker Anthony Morales was charged Thursday with aggravated assault and battery for allegedly breaking the jaw of Yankees pitching prospect Ty Hensley last month in Oklahoma.
By week’s end, Derek Jeter’s $8 million dollar option (already now $9.5 million) for 2014 could grow to $11.5 million. And that would be another wrinkle for the Yankees as they try to reduce their payroll.
Hensley just took his first step to one day donning pinstripes. The 18-year-old hurler has agreed to terms with the Yankees.
Hensley is in a New York state of mind. The 18-year-old hurler from Edmond Santa Fe High School in Oklahoma said Tuesday that he plans to sign with the Bombers at the expense of his college commitment to Mississippi.
The Yankees drafted surefire Hall of Famer Derek Jeter 20 years ago last Friday. On Monday, New York used their top pick on a young hurler who they think could become a star in the Bronx.
