“USS New York’s motto, ‘Strength forged through sacrifice. Never Forget,’ says everything about why we are coming to honor the sacrifice of our nation’s heroes — we couldn’t be more proud,” Capt. Jon C. Kreitz said.
The ship was built with steel salvaged from the World Trade Center and named in honor of the attacks on September 11, 2001.
The USS New York – which includes 7.5 tons of World Trade Center Steel its hull – was adopted by September 11 families in a special ceremony in Staten Island.
