Suffolk County legislators voted unanimously Tuesday to ban the sale of highly concentrated powdered caffeine to minors.
Restaurant manager Steven Nelson, 55, was found dead in the basement of Legal Sea Foods Saturday night. More than two dozen other people were sent to hospitals for treatment.
Just days after Mayor Michael Bloomberg signed a bill banning the sale of tobacco products to anyone under age 21, a similar effort has launched in Suffolk County.
The Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School – which specializes in science, technology, engineering and math – will welcome third to fifth graders when the school year begins on Sept. 4.
The legislation will ban the sale of energy drinks to minors at county parks and beaches as well as prohibit the marketing of energy drinks to teens.
