Though the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will showcase fall 2012 trends, we still need to get through winter so we can don what industry mavens deemed suitable for spring last fall. From colored denim to animal print, keep an eye out for bright hues and bold designs that are sure to turn heads when you’re walking the city streets. To keep up with what fashionistas will be wearing while watching models strut their stuff on the runway this week, head to these boutiques and snag some pieces to add to your collection. Head downtown to pick up brightly colored demin in kelly green or crimson to brighten up your closet. It’s an easy way to jazz up a plain top for a look that’s great both day and night.
For funky animal prints, like 3.1 Phillip Lim’s leopard ankle boot heels, go to the West Village. You’ll find fashion staples like J Brand jeans, along with bright accessories, like neon clutches and bold nail polish shades.
If you’re ringing the spring season with a party, try on some frocks in this East Village location. From more animal prints to bold zigzags, you’ll make heads turn, just like models do while on the runway.
For a unique look, check out this Christopher Street boutique. Shop owner Kyung Lee covets indie brands from around the globe, along with items from local designers. You’re sure to find the feminine floral prints that dominated the runway last fall.
And of course, you’ll need a pair (or two) of shoes to go along with the fabulous new outfits you’ve picked out. Hop over the bridge to Williamsburg for shoes from brands like Jeffrey Campbell, Frye and Senso Laden. But if you see a pair online that you’re dying to have, head over there quick – common sizes run out as soon as they hit the shelves.
