The second outpost from the owners of Whiskey Town, this unpretentious Chinatown bar is a block east of the Centre Street route and opens at 11 a.m. Expect a variety of rye whiskeys, bourbon, and beer, with most drinks under $10. Just a block east of the 4th Avenue route and open at 11 a.m., McSorley’s would make a fine stop for a hearty mug of ale after a morning of exercise. NYC’s oldest continuously operating bar, the history and simplicity here are a breath of fresh air in the ever-changing East Village. Choose from two house-made beers on tap, one light, one dark, which are served in two glass mugs for $5.
