Any night out with friends in New York City is sure to be a good time, but when you’ve had a little too much fun you may find yourself calling those same friends for some hangover brunch du jour the next morning. Here’s where to go for the best Bloody Marys in New York City. By Jessica Allen.

Amigos, in Morningside Heights, offers Alex Garcia’s take on Mexican food, including made-to-order papaya and mint guacamole, adobo short rib tacos, and burritos. The brunch menu offers all-you-can-drink Bloody Marys for just $9.95. If that’s not enough, try a fishbowl—an actual fishbowl!!!—minus the goldfish, and filled with a house special rum-and-pineapple punch.

Since 1981, Good Enough to Eat has served its American comfort food from a, well, comfortable space on the Upper West Side. The G.E.T.E. Bloody Mary is utterly customizable. Choose from such vodka as Crop Tomato or Cucumber, Grey Goose, Ketel One, or Absolut Pepper, add garnishes like olives stuffed with bleu cheese, a slab of thick cut, double-smoked, sugar-cured bacon, or a skewer of jalapenos or pepperoncini, and drink up.

Could there be a more perfect place to belly up for a Bloody Mary than this bar, which claims to have invented the drink, or at least introduced it to American palates? In 1934, King Cole Bar began serving the “Red Snapper,” a mix of tomato juice, vodka, salt, pepper, lemon, and Worcestershire sauce, similar to what was being served in Parisian restaurants. (“Bloody Mary” was considered too vulgar a name for such an elegant institution.) Today, the bartenders still rely on the original recipe.
