New York Authentic Mexican Restaurant Week kicked off Sunday, meaning a number of Mexican restaurants in the city are opening their doors and offering discounts (see the full list here). Here are the best haunts to make a toast to Latin American culture. By Selena Ricks-Good.

National restaurant chain Rosa Mexicano has partnered with Gran Marnier to offer a special cocktail, the Margarita Francesca, through October 15 for Hispanic Heritage Month. The drink reverses the proportions of a traditional margarita, using 1.5 oz. Grand Marnier, 1 oz. Alma Tequila, 1 oz. lime juice, 1/2 oz. orange juice and 1/2 oz. simple syrup.

La Palapa is already known for weekly cocktail specials such as Sangria Sundays–$10 for pitchers of White Hibiscus Sangria and Red Citrus Sangria all day and night. From Monday, Sept. 26 through Friday, Sept. 30, the restaurant will offer nightly tequila and mezcal tastings featuring a different brand each night.
