The group is also dedicated to providing activities where your kids can have the chance to meet other kids who are in a similar situation. With almost 1,000 adult members from all walks of life, this is a great place for both the parents and their kids to connect. The New York Single Moms Group was started by single mom Judy, who was looking for a community of like-minded individuals to discuss the never-ending issues and challenges common to single moms. The group is relatively small (around 250 moms). The bi-monthly sessions are usually small and intimate so that everyone has a chance to tell their story and solicit advice and support from other members. There is no reason to be concerned with child care during the meetings, because babysitting is provided free of charge at the McBurney Y.
