Dancing in Bryant Park: Swing
Learn how to swing, tango, and do the salsa tonight at Bryant Park. Talia Castro-Pozo hosts a night of dancing at Fountain Terrace. Take an hour-long lesson and then test out the waters with live music by Pete Brown and The Rhythm Dogs from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Marielys Molina and Rickey Tripp from Motown The Musical on Broadway will also be there tonight to help show you some moves. Bring a partner or meet a new one. Lesson begins at 6 p.m.
Arrested Development Trivia
This is the story about a fun night out in Brooklyn. It’s Arrested Development Bingo at Videology. Watch an episode of the cult favorite and make sure to look out for things like the banana stand and listen for quotes like “no touching.” You could win prizes or a frozen banana. Yves Saint Laurent
Are you obsessed with fashion? Then you probably know the story of Yves Saint Laurent. Come watch this remarkable designer’s rise to fame as one of the top luxury powerhouses in the world during a special screening of Yves Saint Laurent, starring Pierre Niney. The French Institute Alliance Francaise is showing a preview of the film but first, stop by the Le Skyroom for a makeover with YSL Beauty, which will feature the new Couture Palette – inspired by the YSL Mondrian Dress that is featured in the film. Event begins at 5 p.m. and screening starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $16.35 for general admission, $9.95 for students, $4.85 for FIAF members.
The Ailey Spirit Gala
Attend The Ailey Spirit Gala tonight at Lincoln Center and watch a one-night only, star-studded performance featuring Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, The Ailey School, and AileyCamp. Be the first to see Alvin Ailey’s masterpiece, Revelations, as well as David Parsons’ Caught. Honorary Chair Vanessa Williams will also be there to help kick off this two-week program. Enjoy the soiree on the promenade immediately after tonight’s performance with music by DJ M.O.S. Event begins at 7 p.m. and single tickets range from $250-$1,000.
A Night of Film & Food: Jiro Dreams of Sushi
If you love sushi, you must see the film Jiru Dreams of Sushi tonight at the Film Society of Lincoln Center. Watch this engaging documentary about Jiro Ono, the 85 year-old sushi master who owns his own tiny and sought after restaurant underneath the Ginza Tokio Subway station. Stick around after the screening for a reception with some of New York’s finest chefs serving their signature dishes and cocktails. Event begins at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $75 for general public, $50 for New Wave members and JBF Greens.
