Food Network star Molto Mario’s crocs and long red hair make him one of New York’s most recognizable food personalities. His local Italian empire includes Esca, Lupe and Otto, among others, but Babbo put beef cheeks on the map.

The After Hours With Daniel host was the first to stuff a burger with foie gras in the late 90s, touching off the gourmet burger wars that rage to this day. His gastropub on lower Bowery (near where punk-rock club CBGBs used to be) is on-trend with whole animal options like tasting plates of bone marrow and pigs feet—and of course, there’s the “ménage a trois” burger flight.

The Iron Chef takes a whack at classic American dishes. His gourmet versions of small-town cuisine includes shrimp and grits, a chopped salad with a Meyer Lemon vinaigrette and grilled pizza with double-smoked bacon.

Les Halles is where it all began… where Anthony Bourdain was living hard, wielding big knives, and cursing out the kitchen staff before he wrote Kitchen Confidential, his tell-all memoir about the dirty business of high end dining. With a new book out (Medium Raw) and his Travel Channel show No Reservations, Bourdain is still going strong, and so is Les Halles.

The winner of the first season of Top Chef has done better than many of the program’s alums, opening his own NYC restaurant to widespread acclaim. Perilla is a small place in the Village, serving Dieterle’s delicate, subtly Asian-influenced fresh and seasonal cuisine. Dieterle is not as famous as the other chefs on the list, but you can be sure he’s in the kitchen himself.

Thomas Keller is the California superstar responsible for Napa dining mecca French Laundry. A visit to the Time Warner skyscraper in Midtown doesn’t have quite the same élan. Still, Keller’s painstaking, impeccably sourced cuisine makes this the fine-dining must-stop in New York City.

I like how the tuner of the amuse S2000 says ‘I’m satisfied that everyone recognized the potential of this car..’ They pretty much gave him a perfect score and he says its potential for something even greater lol.. I love that guy

I LOVE that they included Harold Dieterle on this list of 6 other highly acclaimed chefs. Well deserved.

    I had a family dinner for 8 (I paid)
when the entrees were presented i told the waiter that mine was not correct
It was duck and i HATE duck
Rather than apologize, the waiter ran to get the maitre’d and they both insisited that i ordered the duck.
What kind of BS is that. At a high end restaurant like bouley the waiter and maitre d should have profusely aplogized, comped the entree and gave us free drinks. I wasnt looking for anything but i didnt need them both telling me that i ordered the duck.

Unfortunately i was a perfect gentlemen but i should have let them have it
That is no way to treat a customer especially in a high end restaurant like bouley. It wasnt my first time there but my last
