PEEKSKILL, NY (WCB S880) - New Yorkers pay about 53 percent more for auto insurance than other drivers across the country.

Sen. Greg Ball stopped by the Peekskill DMV on Thursday throwing his support behind the Fraud Tax Bill.

The bill would increase penalites for those who stage accidents and then submit fake medical bills, taking advantage of New York’s no fault system. It would also decertify medical providers who committ insurance fraud.

“The bill that we have, it’ll take New York State where we need to go to make sure that we are no longer one in all the wrong ways,” said Sen. Ball. “The bill that we have has bipartisan support.”

Thank you, Senator Ball! STOP THE FRAUD TAX NOW! Your enormous guts are evidenced here. Most legislators bow to the trial lawyers, who are the only group blocking this legislation from happening. Trial lawyers are the only profession who benefit from this fraud (aside from the criminals themselves). We appreciate your courage.

A good idea long overdue. In addition, to jail time and decertification add civil liability to repay the state and the insurance companies.

IF YOU PUT PEOPLE BEHIND BARS WHEN THE COMMIT INSURANCE FRAUD THEN PEOPLE WILL THINK TWICE ABOUT DOING IT. WHEN PEOPLE ARE JUST LET OFF THE HOOK AND GO FREE EVERYTIME THEY WILL KEEP DOING IT…
