Rolling Thunder Bikers Stop In NJ On Their Way To DC For Memorial Day Tribute

RUTHERFORD, NJ (WCBS 880) – The Rolling Thunder ride is rumbling its way into the Nations' Capitol for a weekend of tributes to the military and a rally, where potential republican presidential candidate Sarah Palin, is set to speak.

From Boston to DC and back, it's a 500 mile ride for Darrell Stoddard who stopped along the New Jersey Turnpike at the Vince Lombardi service area.

"I'll come and support our military," said Stoddard. "Show our patriotism, show our pride."

It's his firs Rolling Thunder ride. "I've seen it go on but I've never been able to have been a part of it," he said.

And there's no better transportation than his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

"It's my baby. It's my pride and joy other than my wife," said Stoddard. "When she's not around, the bike comes first."

A half million motorcycle riders are expected to converge on Washington this weekend.
