Look at that picture of the burger. Now look back here. No? Totally understandable; the grill marks on the bread alone are enough to make one drool. Shoestring fries, cooked perfectly to crisp heaven, and high quality meat, chargrilled to perfection, then layered with Roquefort cheese; this just may be one of the best lunches ever. Bite into the juicy burger, the soft, buttery bun, and munch away the stress of the week. Just don't try to ask for mayo - your request will be denied.

Beacon's burger has long been lauded as one of the best in the city, but the sit-down price of $19 may put some people off. Not to worry: their summer-long "Side Door" - literally, a table put out by the side door of Beacon - offers the same burger, but for $10 with a bag of chips and a drink (definitely get the Tiger Tea, a limey iced tea concoction). It's not made-to-order, instead pre-made and kept, wrapped, in a warming oven, but at that price for the quality, it's a worthy steal. Bring your meal to a nearby park (or atrium, if the weather is less than gorgeous) and transport yourself to a perfect individual picnic of sorts, far away from the noise of Manhattan.

The bacon cheeseburger at Little Owl evokes so many memories; the crisp crunch of Gus's pickle included on the side reminds you of the freshness of a garden, while the spiced fries might take you to a long-ago summer vacation spent eating your way through the boardwalk. But the burger, oh the burger, it transports you to a time and place that is neither here or now: to a wondrous moment when you fell in love, while you fall in love, at The Little Owl. Cooked to perfection - a must for any burger to be great - the tender meat gushes forth and the bun does its best to absorb all the meat's juices without falling apart. Your eyes will roll to the back of your head as you eat, and you'll wonder why you hadn't visited sooner. You'll be back for more.
