Freeport Man Accused Of Impersonating Soldier At JFK Airport To Get First Class Upgrade

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Police say a Long Island man is accused of posing as a soldier so he could be bumped to first class on a flight to John F. Kennedy Airport.

Port Authority police arrested 22-year-old Rock Diaz of Freeport on charges of second-degree impersonation.

Police say he was arrested on Friday after landing at JFK on a flight from the Dominican Republic.

The Post reported that a customs official asked Diaz his rank and he gave an answer that didn’t match the insignia on the camouflage fatigues he was wearing.

The paper says Diaz claimed he did nothing wrong and blamed the confusion on a language barrier.

Just drop the sh/t into Afghanistan and be done with it. Why waste money with jails?

TJ just because he is Dominican doesn’t mean that his cousins are doing the same thing. What he did was terribly wrong and he should be punished..I am pretty sure he knows the language well too no need to be an ignorant racist….NON Minorities do dumb things too!

People who impersonate others are sick. They do it because they have no lives of their own. Ask the guy who pretends to be me here every day and says horrible hateful things.

What language barrier? I’m sure Mr. Diaz speaks both English and Spanish fluently. He should be charged with more than impersonating a soldier. Has anyone checked his and his families citizenship status? Gang affiliation? Check his house (i.e. casa) and honda civic for illegal drugs and/or weapons? What a clown. It amazes me how people just do the darndest things and make nothing of it as if its no big deal. Mr. Diaz, if you come to the US, you play by our rules. Now go away. And take all your cousins with you. Next time you want to impersonate a US soldier, do it in Afghanistan. Thank you.

How dare he!!!!!!! Men and women die for this country and you want to impersonate a soldier for an upgrade. Shameful.
