From Boomer & Carton
It’s a holiday weekend and Friday’s edition of the Boomer & Carton Morning Extravaganza was all about the upcoming Subway Series at Citi Field.
The Yankees come into the series as hot as a pistol, winning yesterday afternoon in the Bronx 5-0 over the Brewers behind an impressive performance from CC Sabathia. The Bombers have won 15 of their last 18 games and hold a 2.5 game lead over the Red Sox in the AL East.
Despite yesterday’s setback in Detroit, the Mets have been playing some pretty good baseball in their own right and after a 5-13 start to the season, they reach the halfway point of the season with a record of 41-40 (5.5 games out of the wild card).
All of that sets the stage for what should be a fantastic Subway Series in Flushing.
On a side note, Craig recognized a wrinkle that has not garnered much attention due to the uncertainty of Jose Reyes’ future. The wrinkle he pointed too was the uncertain future of CC Sabathia, who has an out in his current contract following this season.
So there were plenty of story lines for the Dynamic Duo to talk about this Friday morning, both good and bad. Craig also voiced his displeasure for the lack of a fireworks display scheduled for this 4th of July weekend at Citi Field…
