B&C Morning Show: Hard-Working Sterling, Gavel-Pounding Lupus And An Untouchable Captain

It sounded as if John Sterling was well rested after a brief break for the All-Star game. He was on hand in Toronto and on his game in the booth, calling the action on WCBS 880.  The Yankees, on the other hand, had a rough go of it against the Blue Jays - falling behind 9-0 - before they lost by a lopsided score of 16-7.

Jerry "Rello" Recco provided all of the details from Toronto, which is where the Yanks will play again tonight and they'll send Freddy Garcia (7-6, 3.13 ERA) with the hopes he can quickly right the ship after Bartolo Colon failed to get out out the 1st inning in game 1 of the 4 games set, which will conclude Sunday at the Rogers Centre.

The newest member of the '3,000 Hit Club' Derek Jeter went 1-4 and apparently the reports that he was suffering from both physical and mental exhaustion were unfounded.  WFAN's Yankees beat reporter Sweeny Murti asked the Captain about the backlash from the skipping the All-Star Game. Jeter didn't seem to care too much for Sweeny's line of questioning.

Then Craig talked about a gift buying spree he went on yesterday, during which he bought a gavel for our boy Lupus (aka Rocco - aka Nick Colombo) who is heading to law school in the fall.  Boomer had a suggestion for Nick on what he should do with the thoughtful gift and after hearing it, Craig suspected that Al Dukes is now going to want one.

We also got to hear our first British Open update of the morning courtesy of Bobby O'Dwyer...
