Brooklyn's Kebeer Hosts 'Big Boys Challenge': Drink 5 Liters Of Beer In One Sitting

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Brooklyn restaurant is challenging its customers to drink five liters of beer in two hours without throwing up.

The New York Times reports that Kebeer, a restaurant in Brighton Beach, is offering  "free beer for life'' as a reward. Owner Max Aranbayev says winners will get a free half-pint of beer with any purchase as long as the eatery stays open.

Aranbayev says he's "not pushing alcohol'' and started the contest for fun. He says about 60 percent of people who attempt the challenge succeed.

"Once you throw up, it's over," he told the Times.

Police say there's no state law that bans such a contest, although it's illegal to serve alcohol to a visibly intoxicated person.

Aranbayev says he only lets experienced drinkers participate and makes sure they aren't driving.
