NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Ladies, I have a suggested fantasy to keep you entertained while you're trapped at home all weekend thanks to Hurricane Irene: You and Derek Jeter sharing a kiss and waving to the adoring fans at Yankee Stadium.

Jeter and Kelly confirmed their breakup to gossip site JustJared.com on Friday morning.  The star of the new Charlie's Angels remake and the Yankee's shortstop dated for three years.

While a source close to the former couple told People magazine that the duo are still friends.

"They care about each other and it was amicable," the source said.

Kelly's Twitter may hint otherwise.  Yesterday she retweeted a quote from Deepak Chopra.

"Today every word I utter will be chosen consciously. I will refrain from complaints, condemnation, and criticism #PeaceIsTheWay," the tweet said.

Sounds like breakup tweeting if I've ever seen it.

Lucky for these two their work schedules puts some space between them. Jeter is doing his Yankee thing in New York, and Kelly is shooting her new show in Miami.
