Occupy Wall Street Attempts 24-Hour Drum Session In Mayor Bloomberg’s Neighborhood

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Occupy Wall Street demonstrators brought their protest to billionaire New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s town house — along with their drums.

Demonstrators have their musical instruments, food, banners, art and sleeping bags with them near the mayor’s residence near Central Park. They started drumming at 2 p.m. Sunday and aim to keep the beat up for 24 hours.

LISTEN: WCBS 880’s Alex Silverman reports

Organizer John Penley says protesters want to get as close to Bloomberg’s house as the police let them. The protesters are angry at Bloomberg for rousting them from their home base at Zuccotti Park on Tuesday.

Protesters weren’t the only ones upset about how the eviction went down. Manhattan borough president Scott Stringer also criticized Bloomberg over how the eviction went down.

The planned protest comes after police in Albany arrested an unknown amount of protesters for violating the curfew law at Lafayette Park.

Sunday evening, Bloomberg held a news conference, along with NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly and Manhattan D.A. Cyrus Vance to announce the arrest of a Manhattan man on terrorism charges.

They better bang on the private Fed bank and the corrupt big government. Return to the Constitution as a foundation for all law and the ‘Bloombergs’ will spontaniously disappear also.

All you “out of Town protest Queen’s” New York, unlike the bergs you came from has noise abatement laws on the books, you will be severely fined and arrested if your “drunk drum line” even makes a sound after 9 P.M. ! You will be taken to “Beautiful Rikers East” and treated to a “Spa” weekend! The rump wranglers and golden shower crowd will make you feel at home!

  • Huh

    • kodi

Of course , I will give u a free djembe class and let you one of my new djembes, anytime….kodidrummer@facebook.com

USA Today, November 21, 2011: Doug Stanglin “Poll: ‘Occupy’ movement fails to capture Americans’ interest”

Duh!! I could have written this. Wall streeters listen to shareholders, politicians listen to voters. No one listens to smelly, raping drummers.

Cue spin from OWS: “Uh, this is just the beginning… ” of the end perhaps.

  • Andrew Nutra

They would have to drum louder, Bloomberg might be in Bermuda.

  • BumblesBumblinAlong

When does Owebama marry any of this. Oh , let me guess why no left-wing socialist ,involved in any of this, has mentioned Jimmy Carter Jr’s name….

  • Amtracmarine

News to the drum clowns. He’s rich, he owns a copte,.he wasn’t home dumb-a*ses.

  • Ashton Moore

Could be worse. Could’ve been an accordian circle.

    • Andrew Nutra

Circle jerk would be more like it.

  • DMC

    Ooops meant . . . energy

  • DMC

Wake up OWS and snell the Starbucks. Your time has come . . . to go home, update your resume and go forth and [gasp] find a job. Yeah, I know that W.O.R.K. is a four-letter word for you, but hey, sometimes, you just have to take one for the team.

Oh, and one more thing . . . while you are out looking for a job, do some good in the world since you seem to have an unusually large amount of time and enery on your hands.

    • Andrew Nutra

” …large amount of time and energy on your hands” amongst other things.

  • Meme Meyagi

what is done about 7 million mooslime terrorists living in usa?

  • losers will be losers

What a bunch of LOSERS . They are getting desperate now because no one is listening any more.

  • Mari

    Do they take requests?

  • Andrew Nutra

It used to be a valid exercise in expressing their opinions regarding economic inequality. Now it’s about spreading threats and revenge and a strange fetish over private property.

    • Go OWS (home)

From the behaviors of the OWS movement, its political suicide for any dimwits for any public official, group, union, etc to support or continue supporting OWS. OWS has gone down the toilet (literally since they left their feces and NYC had to flush them out the park with force).

      • Forget the park W Hotel much better

Can we get another couple $500 a night rooms at the W hotel these protest are hard on the feet.Keep donating people money going to a good cause.

  • Andrew Nutra

They’re going to play magical drums made out of fairy dusts.

  • Bruce

    Bloomberg is a putz.

  • Andrew Nutra

Umm, Wall Streeters listen to shareholders, politicians listen to voters, NO ONE listens to raping percussionists! Take a tip from your fellow terrorists Al Qaeda: have a leader, have focus and die for your cause otherwise no one’s gonna take you seriously.

Bloomberg is a jerk but these protestors are the biggest losers you can find. ROT THEIR SOULS.

  • Billy Balou

Still not sure what OWS wants. Just to let them know – if you take $20MM from the top 1000 executives and spread it around to 300,000,000 Americans, we can all eat lavishly for one meal – that’s $67 apiece. Hmmm. No wonder Wall Street isn’t listening.

    • Andrew Nutra

They want attention: I want to set up an “Attention Booth.” I’ll charge each OWS member $5 per 15 minute session. Tell me about your problems. Awww your liberal arts degree not doing anything for you in this down economy? You should have majored in IT or something in healthcare! POOR BABY!!! Do you want to drum some more? Bad bankers!! Bad bankers!! No no need to look for a job. Your drums made out of unicorn testicles when played will make everything better. Let’s bring in the soothing voice of Joan Baez. This is all about you!

      • Bruce

Actually you could use a bit of education yourself. I heard similar taunts when I was in third grade. I am sorry that you haven’t progressed much since then.

        • pee pee

third graders know where the urinal is and understands courtesy better than ows bums

    • Overwhelmed

Billy! Take it easy and not overwhelm OWS geniuses. They have enough to worry about (like where to urinate, drop feces, and relive themselves).
Lets give them something they can understand!

      1 + 1 = 3

    • The Realist

They want HANDOUTS. They want ENTITLEMENTS. They want paychecks without jobs. The want whatever the O.W.S.’s top executives tell them to want.

  • Xy W

a lot here are saying that these people don’t want to do low paying jobs, have bad degrees etc. that’s not the point. the point is that the “rich” got 1 $trillion on one shot to keep their lifestyle and no go to South Dakota to work on oil fields. why shouldn’t OWS ask for the same treatment. If there was no bailout Bloomberg and Wall Street would have lost everything, but they took our money anyway.

  • David Huser

According to a report in the Daily Rash, Ron Paul made an appearance at Occupy Wall Street this weekend and apparently handed out LSD to protesters. http://www.thedailyrash.com/ron-paul-hands-out-lsd-to-occupy-wall-street-protesters

WS: playing 60s radicals they saw on TV because the liberal arts degree they mastered in is not doing them any good in a down economy (IT and Healthcare are the way to go). Well guess what? Drumming and kicking out the homeless and ex-cons will not help you either. God forbid you work with your hands or take minimum wage. This is a land of opportunity not guarantees. Wall streeters listen to shareholders, politicians listen to voters. No one listens to smelly, raping drummers. Maybe you shouldn’t have borrowed $200K to master in Medieval Eastern Ugandan poetry.

    • Bruce

I would respond to this post, but I am due back on the planet Earth.

    • 2gruesome2b

not to worry! my financial aid advisor told me if i did not have a position paying 100k annually within two months, the government would not expect me to pay off the loan i took out for $255,000.73. i thought i had a job, but, sadly, i never ever could remember the third line of the four lines of the opus comprising the body of the poetry of uganda, so i did not get the job (despite the fact i was the only applicant). the difficult part for me is that the swine recommended i take a part time job at macdonalds until the job search people in the harvard phd department could turn something up for me. heartless swine, i call him that these days, indeed!

  • TRG

Why don’t they really make a difference , and Occupy Congress ?

    • injun

They are there too.Oh and by the way Bloomberg is in the Bahamas and you are not.

  • liz

If only they put this much energy into finding a job they would be better off and more respected. They certainly have LOST their focus and Lost their way. I have NO sympathy for them. They really turned out to be TIME WASTERS (nothing more than that).

    • Al

What jobs? That’s kinda the point, Liz, the fact that there is high unemployment and these corporations are shipping jobs offshore. Now a billionaire sends the police to pepper spray them, beat them and destroy their property. Good for them bringing their protest to his (albeit, empty) home.

      • Sarah

I see “now hiring” signs all over the place. They just aren’t at the places these entitled arrogant punks want to work at. What are theyt accomplishing? Nothing as per their daily lives even when they aren’t “occupying”.

      • fed up with hypocrite

There are more jobs out there that you realize. they just might not be the ones you want. When you take an obscure major your job opportunities are limited or non existent but that was your choice no one elses. I am a manager at a large company that is hiring for jobs that can earn an individual 65k to 75k in there first year. Even in this economy it amazes me that people will make interview appointments and not show up or show up very late. I hear the same thing when I go to job fairs from the other recruiters.

      • edrews

What jobs, you ask. Are the want ads empty. I haven’t checked, but I really doubt it. I’m thinking there are still good paying jobs out in the oil fields in North Dakota, as well as other jobs elsewhere in the country. Of course trying for one of those jobs would mean takinga risk – of moving, and possibly even getting a job. The oil fiield pay, at least from what I read, is quite good – some jobs in the siz figure range. Of course it is hard work, and the temperatures in winter aren’t the balmy temperatures of NYC, but it is a job, and it does allow one to take care of one’s obligations.

Of course even with jobs out there, one still needs the proper qualifications. Getting arrested while protesting is going to disqualify some people from more than a few jobs. Then again, getting arrested is a ‘badge of honor’ for protesters.

Of course it is always easier to sit on your backside all day and cry about not having a job, than to actually go out and find a job, and earn a living. Of course if they had a job, they would miss the next big protest march, and that would be just terrible. Of course OWS has caused some peopel to lose their jobs, but I guess that was their intent – misery needs company.

so as not to offend by using my own words, may i offer the ancient greek axiom, “whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad”?

  • Smelly Hippie

Leftists must be dealt with using the methods of the left.

Bloomburg is the best mayor NYC has had a many many years,,,,, I love all that mayor Bloomy has done while in office……I have no complaints only praises….

Having said that I am not republican, or democrat, I am not wealthy, in fact I am unemployed going on 7 years…. I am way below poverty level…..I have no property of any kind any where….

I am in full support of Bloomy because he is a no nenonsence guy and he takes no crap from anyone…..

He does what he says he’ll do and means it…..I can go on and on…..

Just look at all of his true accomplishments in office and you too will be amazed…..

I hope he runs for president or another term for Mayor…
