East Hampton Town Police Hunt Panty Thief

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police in East Hampton are hunting for a panty thief.

Police say the thief struck at 10 a.m. on Nov. 25. He broke into a home on Stephen Hands Path and was spotted on the property by an acquaintance of the homeowner. The two struggled. During the struggle, the suspect dropped the lacy loot: A bag full of women's undergarments.

"This is not the type of case that we often handle, regarding the proceeds," Det. Lt. Christopher Anderson told CBSNewYork.

The suspect ran off down the block.

He's described as a Hispanic man, 4'10"-5'2", with a thin build. Police say he's in his late teens or early 20s. He has straight black hair, brown eyes and was wearing a grey sweatshirt and a light brown baseball cap.

Despite having the run of the home, the suspect apparently only snatched the undergarments.

"A rather unique take," said Det. Lt. Christopher Anderson of the East Hampton Town Police.

"We are investigating the case vigorously and we are hopeful we get some information from the composite sketch," Anderson said.
