A 'Decent' Cornerback? Giants, Jets' Darrelle Revis Trade Jabs

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- According to Jets coach Rex Ryan, cornerback Darrelle Revis is the best player in the NFL.

As for Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks? Well, let's just say he disagrees.

"He's a decent corner," Nicks said of Revis on Wednesday. "He's decent."

Nicks later softened his stance a bit, calling Revis "a great player" and referring to himself in the same way.

"I guess it's an even battle," said Nicks.

Victor Cruz is another Giants wideout who hasn't entirely bought into the "Revis Island" concept.

"Teams aren't really scared anymore," Cruz said of Revis. "He's got to earn his money this year, teams aren't really backing down."

"In one ear, out the other," Revis responded Thursday, adding the only time he heard of Cruz was during the preseason.

Cruz backed off a bit when he tweeted yesterday, "Please understand the media takes excerpts of my conversation to make a story. I don't talk trash. #Notmystyle."

"It really wasn't a shot or anything," the wide receiver told WFAN's Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton Thursday morning. "People have been throwing to his side more and the proof is in the film."

Jets tight end Dustin Keller joined Boomer & Carton right after Cruz. Unlike Ryan and a few other Jets, Keller wouldn't take the bait.

"I don't really get involved in all that stuff," he said of the trash talk.

But Keller couldn't deny how huge this game is for both teams. They aren't only battling to make the playoffs, they're battling for temporary ownership of NYC.

"Of course, you have the New York bragging rights," said Keller. "After this game I want to still be able to get a reservation wherever I want to go."

Will Revis make Nicks & Co. pay on Saturday? Sound off below...
