Tire, Rim Thefts Continue On Long Island

WANTAGH, NY (CBSNewYork) – We told you last week how thieves took the rims and tires off of five cars in Massapequa, Long Island – leaving the vehicles on blocks in the streets.

Now a dealership was also hit.

Police said the rims and the tires were taken from seven vehicles at Merrick Dodge in Wantagh.

The estimated loss to the dealership – a whopping $26,000.

Authorities told WCBS 880 reporter Sophia Hall that it takes the crooks only about thirty seconds to steal four rims and tires from a car.

Police have no description of the suspects.

    Im a victim to this crime! These cops dont do anything about it! All i know is its a white ford van and three african americans doing it!!!! ive come to realize that there hitting only doge and nissan cars! It cant be just random guys doing it! It has to be a refurished company who hired people to do it!

    Heroin problems ,Pain pill problems and now apartment complex hit and now a car dealership ……….I thought those high property taxes gave you a better way of life out east from NYC ………Long Island isn’t what it use to be

    Crime is NOT supposed to happen in quiet pristine suburbs where REAL Americans live. They’re supposed to happen only in lowlife-infested CITIES.

    I blame Mike Bloomberg for continually exporting NYC’s inherent crime to the suburbs.
