NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The NYPD announced the results of the first gun buyback of 2012 on Saturday; 108 weapons were turned in at the Bedford Central Presbyterian Church in Crown Heights.

Among those weapons were twenty-nine semiautomatic, and seven of the surrendered weapons were loaded.

The NYPD/Clergy Gun Buy-Back program has been in effect since 2008 and has resulted in more than 7,600 weapons being taken off of the street.
