Mayweather Slams ‘Linsanity’ On Twitter, Says Hype Due To Race

NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — Not every athlete is caught up in the Linsanity.

Unbeaten boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. tweeted a swipe Monday at the Knicks’ point guard sensation.

Mayweather posted on Twitter: “Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he’s Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don’t get the same praise.”

Lin, the NBA’s first American-born player of Chinese or Taiwanese decent, came with little expectations after he was undrafted out of Harvard and cut by two other teams before the Knicks picked him up in December.

The unknown Lin has taken over the Big Apple. Since Feb. 4, he has led the Knicks to five straight victories, including a 38-point game against the Lakers.

Mayweather was criticized for his race comment, but the boxer wouldn’t back down in a series of tweets.

“Other countries get to support/cheer their athletes and everything is fine,” he tweeted later Monday. “As soon as I support Black American athletes, I get criticized.”

He added in another post: “I’m speaking my mind on behalf of other NBA players. They are programmed to be politically correct and will be penalized if they speak up.”

Mayweather rarely hesitates to air racially charged opinions, either in person or in social media. He has repeatedly insulted rival Manny Pacquiao, including an online video in 2010 in which he used racial and homophobic slurs against the Filipino congressman.

why not just chalk it up to Mayweather being a stupid little man – just because someone is an athlete or a sports figure does not make them intelligent and this is obviously a textbook case of stupidity! The sad thing is – the rags print it – when the media stops putting this garbage in the papers, on the internet and on television, then idiots like him will fade into the oblivion from whence they came.

    1. JamesOnThe Potomac says:

Yea, and Mayweather can dance and sig too!

Would love to see Manny clobber Floyd

A mind is a terrible thing to waste, sorry Mr. Mayweather

    4. EVER M. says:

what nba players is he speaking for they all seem to love jeremy lin and the players themselves have hyped him up more than anyone they all have said it’s a gr8 story they can be programmed to say the right things but why say anything if u disagree so they mean what they saying u need real people around u floyd

    5. Sum Dumb Gai says:

I think he’s entitled to his own opinion, just as if some one was to say the hype over Obama is because he is black not because he has really done anything.

But of course many will find what I said to be racist, it’s not like I said why people make a big deal black family member finally gets a GED, when Asians, Whites, Middle Eastern people have been getting their masters for years.

  2. Vision33r says:

We have a double standard today, scouts and owners would only give Black player attention and disregard talented players of other ethnicity such as Asians.

In reality, there are tons of over paid and over rated Black players that’s been playing for years and still shoot at or below 50% at the free throws line.

Black players are degraded the quality of the NBA sports today, where slam dunks are valued more highly than free throw and shooting %

And the traveling, if the ref from my 6th grade rec games were officials at NBA games, the whistle would be blowing all game

        1. Liz Guthrie says:

Best comment, I’ve always said so about traveling. It’s a cheaters game now.

          1. Ruth Takahashi says:

Yep, the walk continually and also carry it.(palm underneath the ball when they change direction)

They should raise the baskets to twelve feet six inches
and make dunks a one point shot. stop the freak show!

    2. Brooklynite says:

Basket ball has become a civil rights sports. Truly sad when society has to placate to a racial group.

      1. RHO says:

That is what the entire democrat party is based philosophically. Take away race baiting and class envy and there is nothing there.

        1. Rick Sanchez says:

          Absolutely “on target.”

        2. Caleb says:

Exactly! the democrat party exists because of the very worst aspects of human nature.

      No Thanks .

      1. Jarhead68 says:

Agreed. 100%. More boring than curling or golf. 😉

        1. jrd says:

Hey, now. don’t make fun of curling.

      2. Jesse Locke says:

The money coming in to the teams, TV networks, cities of teams and coaches, to name a few, say that you are dead wrong. Boring doesn’t generate anywhere near the kind of money that entertainment does. This is why teachers, charged with educating our future, earn $60,000 a year and star baseball players earn $20,000,000 a year. I plain for anyone to see that it’s not fair but that’s life.

    4. Eric says:

i hear what you are saying but one has to believe that a NBA owner and his general mgr would put the best team on the floor their money could buy. Afterall, it’s a business and the objective is profit and winning brings profits.

    5. Quadbravo says:

Pro Sports are the last free market. Who knows maybe Lin is the catalyst for NBA Asians. Pro Sports, although quasi coporations, avoid the poisons of hiring requiremnets other than league money rules. To that end, their market is self correcting. If Asians are the next shooters then their stock will fly.

Hats off to Lin. Anyone suggesting this is an Asian thing is way off base. It started out like that years ago I hear because he was the only Asian of any prowess and had a certain Asian following. No longer the case. He’s the real deal.

      1. nyz_finest_h8r says:

It’s NOT a free market, and you don’t understand Keynesian theory. It’s a counterfeiting and Ponzi scheme to maintain Marxist power. Don’t listen to the Marxist media including Fox, and the Marxist politicians of both parties. Do your homework. It’s probably too late tho.

        1. TomB says:

What the hell does bravo’s post have to do with Keynesian theory? From your brief post I would guess you really don’t know what it is other than a buzzword anyway – maybe you would care to relate *how* Lin’s situation and the NBA labor market is Keynesian?

All he is talking about is Lin’s success might open NBA scouts’ eyes to a different pool of talent to which they normally pay little attention. They know what their team needs and, historically right or wrong, look for certain physical characteristics of player. They have limited resources such as money, time, and scouts on the payroll, and they need to get maximum results, so they focus on areas where they have the best odds of getting the best players. He is right, if Lin’s success results in more exposure for Asian basketball players that can actually compete at the NBA level, then the teams will spend more assets scouting them, and you will see more in the NBA. Pretty simple.

          1. nyz_finest_h8r says:

You’re using “hell” as an expletive and substitute for logical phrasing.
It’s like this, Bread & Circuses has already been tried. What happens next is the merciful collapse of this pseudo-economic and financial nightmare. Then the fun really starts, gladiators turning on liberal-you…

    6. McSorley says:

      What a lame post

    7. SPR says:

You are nuts! Lin is a true underdog and Americans love an underdog. Being undrafted and getting cut twice before getting an opportunity to play only because of an injury to the starter. Please explain where Palin and her “Psy-ops” online commenting by unelected officials come into play with a basketball player that asked for non of this attention. The only unelected officials I know of are in the Obama administration. Also, since when has the media been fair to Pailin? Please go find something to “occupy/vandalize” and leave a good story alone.

    8. Your Doctor says:

Hey, it is psycho, you should REALLY get back on them meds.

      1. JoeyJoeJo Shabadoo says:

Hey stupid, Psy-ops stands for Psychological Operations. You should REALLY read them books. and I agree, @Palin Basketball is f’n crazy.

  3. Bizhlp says:

Lets see over 10 years since exciting Knicks action…6 straight wins…good role model for education…all since Lin took to the court..am I missing something here?
I thought it is about basketball and winning.

    1. Walt says:

Another insecure black man. Oh woe is me! He can’t stand the fact someone other than a black is getting good press. Keep running from Pacqaio and stop running your mouth.

      1. Kwills11 says:

And with every punch taken he will just get dumber…can you have a negative IQ?

    2. MSM Sux says:

Or maybe it’s because he’s playing at an amazing level. Being an American of asian descent is just an addition. Gotta love how race still dominates over the achievements themselves

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Jeremy Lin is the first player since the NBA/ABA merger to score 20-or-more points and have his team win in his first five career starts.

      1. Kwills11 says:

Please don’t use stats, Floyd doesn’t understand them…it is applied math afterall.

One in 4 black males who start as HS Freshman locally graduate from HS in a neighboring county. Blacks of both sexes do graduate have on average a 7th grade reading comprehension level. Why do blacks support school choice at over 80 %? Because they are smart enough to see that the union/liberal politician deadly embrace dooms their futures. Plantations did not disappear, cotton and a shack were traded for a vote, indolence and a welfare check.

      1. BamdJDK says:

Best comment I’ve seen. Nicely done.

      2. Samm Carr says:

Don’t need school choice to show up on time pay attention and do homework. The reason most students don’t achieve is because they don’t try; garbage in garbage out.

As for Mayweather’s, he is dead on just look at the reaction of the people in Taiwan. If that’s not convincing, did anybody notice all of the Chinese fans in the stands in Toronto last night?

        1. McSorley says:

Is it really any different than Samuel L Jackson admitting in a recent interview that he voted for Obama because he is black? Do you really think this opinion is unique to just him?

        2. Jesse Locke says:

Progressive Liberals have been infiltrating the sports world, and virtually every other phase of life, for more than a century now. This is not new. Either many of you are very young and/or uninformed.
@Samm Carr says: “Don’t need school choice to show up on time pay attention and do homework.”
That was true half a century ago but not today. Progressive Liberals have done such a good job at contributing to the destruction of the black family that education has almost zero value to them/us today. Admittedly many had good intentions but what is that worth when facing the results of their efforts? From the early 1960s back to the days of slavery, black families were statistically tied with white families in the percentages of two parent households. Where the children were concerned, they were again statistically tied at reading on grade level, and on single parent families (due to divorce). (Read the book “acting white” by Stuart Buck.) That all changed AFTER the civil rights era. Democrat southerners learned to change the way they CONTROLLED blacks. For the promise of a vote they gave them enough to satisfy their needs and pacify their desires. During the Civil War, Democrats were the ones who fought to keep slavery legal. Ironically, even though they lost that battle, they didn’t lose the war.

      3. mark says:

You just can’t teach stupid. In another 10 years Mayweather will be poor and drug addicted if not dead. And Lin? Probably wealthier and a lot more intelligent with a a family and successful business.
This is just the latest ignorant racial remark from an ignorant racist.
Please just shutup and box and then go away.
He is another embaressment to a race.

        1. McSorley says:

I will bet $1000.00 he won’t be convicted of running a dog fighting ring, shooting himself in the leg, beating his girlfriend, or dealing drugs.

          1. mike says:

Mayweather appears to be nothing more than a common ally cat.

      4. brady says:

If blacks “are smart enough to see that the union/liberal politician deadly embrace dooms their futures,” why do they vote for democrat party members more than 90% of the time?

Because they’re NOT smart enough to see that.

      5. Yaspar says:

  5. Ziggy says:

Doesn’t Mr. Mayweather know that Tiger Woods is half Asian?

    1. MSM Sux says:

About as much as he knows Obama is half White

    2. Kwills11 says:

Tiger is 1/4 chinese, 1/4 thai, 1/4 black, 1/8 native american, and 1/8 white.

      1. Brent says:

        And a 100% POS…………..

          Great comeback, love it!!

        2. storm915 says:

And you wish you were him….

      2. DrJohn says:

You do know that 1/4 + 1/4 is a half, right? Chinese and thai are both asian cultures.

        1. John says:

Yeah, I was wondering if someone was going to point that out.

      3. brady says:

“Native American” is not a race. Since I was born in America, I am “Native American.”
        na·tive [ney-tiv]  adjective
being the place or environment in which a person was born or a thing came into being: one’s native land.
I am of Irish, German and other European ancestors, I am a caucasian. There are native Americans of every race. If you meant something else, I only speak english, not PC.

        1. CherokeeNative says:

So, instead of Native American, we should call ourselves Indians repeating the fallacy that the explorers landed in India instead of the new world? No we were the native people here before the Irish, Germans, and “other European” people came. We are the Cherokee, Sioux, Apache, Seminole, Blackfoot, Hopi, Navajo, etc. Collectively we are the Native Americans. So if correcting the misnomer of “Indians” is being politically correct, perhaps you should explain to your Irish, German and Other European ancestors, why you speak the tongue of the English and not Gaelic, German or an other European language.

          1. Yaspar says:

How about “bowbender?” Would that work for you, chief?

            1. storm915 says:

How about you calling yourself Asshole…because I hear that is what everyone calls you!

          2. RHO says:

How about if you just call yourself an American, instead of seeking ways to subdivide the country? I have “native American” blood, but I am an American. Period. There aren’t any pure blooded people left here or anywhere.

    3. greene opinion says:

That’s ok if he doesn’t remember Woods racial makeup. Most Americans seem to forget Obama is a Mulatto.

      1. Roger says:

It that Spanish for ‘idiot?’ ;^)

        1. McSorley says:

No its spanish for I won the lottery

          1. Finbar says:

No, it’s Spanish for “I’m the idiot that won the lottery.”

    4. Selftrack says:

I wonder if Blake Griffin (Los Angeles Clippers), who is one of the most exciting players in the game, along with Shane Battier, and others consider themselves white or black. The next time scream racism exists in America, perhaps they should look in the mirror to find it!

BTW, Tiger Woods’ race never mattered because golf is considered a “gentleman’s” game where the only person you play against is yourself; where cheating is never condoned or accepted and the penalties are harsh! While I’m a Michelson fan mainly because I’m a lefty too, when Tiger is playing in the Ryder Cup, I’m rooting for AMERICANS!

The reason people are excited about Lin is because he was a back bencher who rarely saw action (except during practice) and was able to come off the bench and prove his worth when given an OPPORTUNITY!

Opportunity exists out there America! All you gotta do is try to the best of your ability to achieve something meaningful or useful in life. Or you can sit on your pity pot and complain and cry racism and suck off of the teat of government your whole life. Chances are, you’ll also be miserable your whole life if you choose the latter.

      1. Sara Cofresi says:

        Well said!

      2. George Knox says:

Amen to that. Good on ya!

      3. McSorley says:

Not only that but the Warriors and Rockets cut him from the team….

  6. Joe says:

Mayweather do you know who is president and the best golf player? What race are they and I do believe they got lots of attention and hype from being the first black president and the first greatest black player who plays golf. Maybe Pacquiao needs to knock some sence in that tiny brain. Get a life, feel sorry for you for losing your brain cells, all six of them……

    1. jekyllisland says:

Actually the President is half White and the golfer you are pointing to is more Asian than he is black.

      1. Bvtn26 says:

I didnt know that Yani Tseng was half black and a guy for that matter. The best golfer ain’t Tiger.

        1. Bill says:

Tiger is not black. A great black golfer is someone such as Jim Dent.

    2. greene opinion says:

Obama is not black. Besides, I thought Clinton was the first black Prez?

    3. RHO says:

Yeah, we have an illegal alien as president, and the best golfer is Phil Mickelson. The best NFL QB is Aaron Rodgers. The best RB is Adrian Peterson. One black guy in that bunch.

  10. Knicks Fan says:

Mayweather is jealous because he dropped out of 4th grade and Lin graduated from Harvard.

  11. Ralph Anthony Rags Morales says:

    Stupid is as stupid does.

  12. Brian says:

Mayweather is right, but he got it backwards. Jeremy Lin was 1st Team All State for California. According to Dana O’Neil of ESPN, “… Lin was the runaway choice for player of the year by virtually every California publication.”

He was 1st Team All State in basketball in California… and didn’t get one offer from any university. Now that’s called racism. So Mayweather was right, just got it backwards.

    1. John Lindsay says:

      Excellent point.

  13. p8nt says:

Mayweather is just jealous because he could never get into and graduate from Harvard

    1. equal says:

he can’t be that dumb dominating the game for 16 years without a loss can you name another athlete that did that? i rest my case

      1. Bring on pacman says:

He is that dumb if you duck fights you can pick and choose.I can be undefeted too if I pick weaker opponents.

      2. Cali says:

What does fighting skill have to do with intelligence???

      3. McSorley says:

Boxing is the most rigged sport in the country outside of pro wrestling. Rather than fight a headliner they set up fights with former sparing partners.

  14. jant1215 says:

Mayweather has taken one too many. He continues to make a fool of himself.

  15. Nat says:

This guy has taken too many shots to the head. It’s not about race. It’s a feel good story of a guy living on his brother’s couch and shocking the basketball world with his hustle and skill. The typical outhouse to penthouse story that Americans love!!

    1. Ron Davis says:

what is sad if Lin said somthing about Mayweather he would be a racist but Maryweather can open his mouth and throw a fellow athlete under the bus is sad.

    2. Jones says:

      It is also about race.

Seeing an Asian person do this is a curiosity.

      1. Chazz says:

To me the story is about an undrafted, previously cut, player from that basketball powerhouse Harvard, possibly turning out to be a star.
Reminds me of all the undrafted football players who played in the USFL who later went on to be stars in the NFL.

      2. Sara Cofresi says:

Why is it a curiosity? Talent is talent!

  16. Paul D says:

Derek Rose, Kevin Johnson, Jason Kidd, Baron davis, etc.., Need I go on? All these players get and have gotten their due respect and adulation from pundits to fans to everyone in the media. The NBA is dominated by black players. There is no one else to praise! Mayweather sounds like a man with a complex. If these athletes are whispering in his ear about some kind of bias from the outside world then it couldn’t be from these true superstars who have been made rich by the public. Either, and I’m more prone to believe this- he’s having delusions about these complaints from those at the top of their game, or it’s from mediocre to good players that believe that they’re better than they really are. If Jeremy Lin were black and had done what he did- resurrect a spiraling, confused, underachieving franchise from an utterly lost season- and if he had come out of nowhere like he did, he would be receiving the same treatment, with all the same fervor and excitement.

  17. Rick says:

true black players do, do the same thing every night. only thing is lin is a team player and palys smart, less we forget he went to harvard and has an education didnt just skip college or take basket weaving til he could get to the N.B.A. i bet lin wins a championship before lebron. try not to hate too much mayweather how about you not run any longer & fight paquaio, ohh. thats right your in prison.. wait any longer and manny will be 60. but manny has higer aspirations. like politics, or singing, so try to keep fighting off the guys trying to rape you in prison.

  18. Jose says:

He is kind of right, nba analyst are just afraid to bring it up because of the trouble they might get in. So dont just kill someone by giving out their opinion.

    1. Frank Urban says:

stupid comment. Lin was an average HS player and a decent college player that was UNdrafted. He’s been cut by many teams and got into a game because of injuries and poor guard play. The Knick are 5-0 since.

    2. Floyd keep ducking fights says:

People can say same thing about any sport in baseball there was plenty of guys doing what Jackie Robinson did but he was first black to play as lin is first asian american to play.It is huge for asian american children to see they can achieve shot in Nba.

      1. Billy says:

what about Yao Ming ? Yes you forgot.

        1. uzilini says:

what about yoa ming isnt asian-american…yes, ur uninformed. i win🙂

          1. 2smart4u says:

Yes, you finally won. The one and only time. What a man..lol

            1. uzilini says:

              yay!!

        2. Gil Dominguez says:

Yao Ming is not Asian American. He remains, as far as I know, a citizen of the People’s Republic.

        3. Harley says:

Yao Ming was an American of Asian (aka Asian American) descent? I thought he was Chinese (from China).

        4. MC says:

Yao Ming is not Asian AMERICAN

          1. greene opinion says:

you’tr all correct. Yao is not an American, he’s a Commie!

        5. ed says:

          he wasn’t asian american, and he’s 7ft. can’t relate

        6. American Fatty says:

Yao Ming was born in China and is a citizen of China. Lin was born in America and is American.

    3. Nick says:

I agree. Everyone talks about freedom of speech. If this is how Mayweather sees the situation, he is allowed to comment. People don’t like what he said- then disagree-don’t call him a racist.

      1. Prophet2525 says:

Here’s a parallel to Mayweather’s comment and tell me if it’s racist or not.

A black man named Blackie wins the Nobel Prize for Chemistry. An Asian man says, “Blackie is good chemist but all the hype is because he’s black. Asian chemists do this every year and don’t get the same praise.”

I can guarantee you that Sharpton, Jackson, NAACP, and the liberal media will condemn this Asian man and will most likely get him fired ala Imus. Mayweather is a racist!

      2. Alan says:

His comments are no different than Rush Limbaugh saying Donavon Mcnabb is famous because he is black.Mayweather’ is just as racist as Rush

        1. McSorley says:

          Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

        2. brady says:

Except Limbaugh never said anything like that. What he said was “The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn’t deserve. The defense carried this team.” There was nothing racists about the comment. His comment was a comment of the mentality of the sports media. And in true form of a liberal liar about race in this country you lie about what he said, and what he is.

        3. RHO says:

Get it right. Limbaugh was correct in what he said, which you misquoted. He said McNabb was overrated because of his race, and he was right about that. At that point they were pushing the idea of a black QB because there weren’t very many. Turns out McNabb wasn’t very good.

      3. brady says:

What about our freedom of speech right to call him a racists.

  19. Master Shake says:

Jeremy is not the prototypical NBA player. He’s an underdog who is kicking butt, and helping his team immensely. He’s a professional athlete that us normal folks can actually relate to. It’s a great story.

    1. Yep says:

Not only that, but he brings a clean image to the game that has been overtaken by street thugs of all races in the past 10 years or so.

  20. htmlisjusttags says:

He can contemplate it more in prison. Enjoy your time there you god damn thug, I hope you get shanked.

  21. jcjets says:

His race is part of the story, but its certainly not the entire story. There haven’t been a lot of Asian american’s playing ball in the NBA, and certainly not ones that are outscoring Kobe!

As always, race is the easiest thing for people to point to, and simple minded people like Mayweather can’t get past it. Bottom line is he’s an underdog (Harvard, undrafted, etc), and people love an underdog. its also unusual because he’s Asian, but if he was a big time college player who was drafted number one overall, the story would be completely different.

  22. canesgiants says:

if black players have done what he has done than how did he break a record?? shouldnt mayweather worry about dropping the soap

    1. Casper says:

Moron. Rush said nothing racist in his comment about the obsequient media. You leftys still can’t get it right.

  23. GIANTSFAN says:

I hope Pacqiauo gives Mayweather the beating he deserves. Maybe then he will blame that on race.

    This country is so screwed.

  24. David says:

Is Meriweather supposed to be in jail for spousal abuse or something? Consider the source.

  25. Tom says:

He is “flea” in a man’s world. Not impressed with his so called boxing skills either. Hey…contrary to your small mind and thoughts not everything has to be racial. Last time I checked, there where all kinds of people on this green earth doing incredible things every day (Kobe, James, Carmello, Stat, Derick Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Victor Cruz, Bradshaw…hello?!: black, white, hispanic, asian…the list goes on and on.

May “feather” – You are a DUNCE!

  26. rocker90 says:

    Mayweather is a racist. Boycott

    1. A "Going Postal" Worker says:

      rocker90 – I agree!

Mayweather doesn’t seem to have too many brain cells left.
It seems that people like him (including a few who usually contribute to CBS’ blog), seem to “dumb down” everthing to race!! That, in my view, is a sign of someone with a low I.Q.

  27. D-man1980 says:

Mayweather is a joke. Another of these over paid athletes that thinks his opinion matters. Playing the race today is as big a joke as anything. His feelings are hurt because people are cheering Lin on. Instead of showing your jealousy through Twitter just grow up. Cheer for Lin or just keep quiet. Boxing is dead by the way.

  28. jWilly234 says:

Not sure about Lin but people’s hatred of Maywether sees no color, people simply dislike him because he’s a infantile jerk.

  29. aha says:

    He tweets with his toes.

  30. Bullett says:

I think Mayweather has been hanging around Sharpton too much.

  31. Tommy C says:

Mayweather=P.O.S RACIST ….Punkass fool. Hey Floyd !!! when you decide to grow some balls and fight Manny then maybe your comments would carry some weight . Until then your a POS in most peoples opinion, except the other racist fools.

  32. getalife says:

He may be unbeaten but he sure sounds like a big loser. Sounds like a racial remark. I guess you can call this reverse discrimination. I suppose when he loses his title (and it will happen) he will come up with reasons why he lost and blame on someone else and not because someone was better than him……………

  33. pacman says:

Are you serious, “Money”? Stop ducking Pacquiao and then talk. The whole world now knows you’re afraid of Asians. Punkazz wife beater. Have fun being someone’s butt boy in jail.

  34. Amtracmarine says:

Mayweather is a tool. This is about staying relivent.

  35. blahblahblah says:

Being Asian is just part of his ‘underdog’ thing. Look at Victor Cruz, Wayne Chrebet, other NY ‘underdogs’ we’ve rooted for because they worked their way up. The more positive things there are to root for, the more hype. If Mayweather went to Harvard, I’d root for him too. Mayweather is a racist who has been hit in the head too many times.

  36. raceless-dan says:

Can coach Mayweather tell D’antoni the other Knick players that do what Lin does every night? Any race please. Doesn’t matter to me. Don’t think it matters to D’antoni. Black, Hispanic, white, Asian, Spanish, purple, martian. I’ll take anybody. Oh wait!! There is Tony Douglas, Melo, and Shumpert. Right? Wrong! There is Jeremy Lin!

  37. Joe says:

Obviously Floyd has been hit in the head one too many times. It’s a great story right now. If he was white, black, asian, or pakistani, bottom line is he’s playing in New York and that’s just the type of recognition you get playing there. So Floyd, cut the jealousy out.

  38. elroy says:

Bla Bla Bla Floyd… Give the world a break and find somethig productive to talk about. If this story bothers you so much, the NBA can live without you as a fan. Floyd, your a jackass.

  39. Phil Esteen says:

Floyd…shut your racist piehole, stop talking out the side of your neck and use it for what it was intended…to hold up your empty head.

‘Flawed Merry Weather’ needs to stick to hitting human beings with his fists because he isn’t qualified to give his opinion on ‘why weebles wobble and don’t fall’ much less the success of Jeremy Lin.

  40. Justin says:

This reminds of the comments Rush Limbaugh made about Donovan McNabb a few years back. Rush’s comments were racist then and he deserved the scorn he got. Floyd is just as bad and is making the same racist comments now. Somehow I doubt Floyd will see the same fallout.

    1. Sorrowful Soros says:

The two comments are not even in the same context. Get a life.

      1. Justin says:

Hmm, lets think. Rush on McNabb – He’s gets overly praised because he’s black. Mayweather on Lin – He gets overly praised because he’s asian. Sounds the same to me. Are you a dittohead in you or are you a Mayweather fan? Either way, I think I detect a bit of bias in your reply…

        1. ed says:

the difference is that one was true and one is not. Too bad you’re not smart enough to see the difference. Even that other black commentator agreed with Rush. Lin’s praise matches up with what he’s been doing this past week.

        2. cjk says:

Product of public education who can’t understand the difference between a truthful comment and a racist one. DUH.

    2. brady says:

This is a repeat comment for another post that incorrectly commented on what Limbaugh said about McNabb. Don’t any of you knuckleheads actually read anything before you form an opinion?
Except Limbaugh never said anything like that. What he said was “The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn’t deserve. The defense carried this team.” There was nothing racists about the comment. His comment was a comment of the mentality of the sports media. And in true form of a liberal liar about race in this country you lie about what he said, and what he is.

  41. Yang says:

He’s dumb “Black players do what he does every night and don’t get the same praise.” umm…it’s called Kobe,Melo,James,Wade etc. Has he not watch sportcenter top 10 of the night? Blake with all his dunk. It would be nice if he took care of business and make the Pacquiao match happen. Then he’ll see first hand what Asian can do!

  42. AMata says:

If he was Black … he would Still be a Great Player… But if he was a Monkey It would be a Three Ring Circus

  43. sgtx says:

Floyd is an idiot and should do a little research before opening his mouth. Lin is the first NBA Player with an average of 20 points and 7 assists in his first 4 starts. Lin has scored 89 points and 109 points in his first 3 and 4 starts, the most by any player since the nba/aba merger. So yes, Lin is worth the hype asian or not!

  44. RJN says:

I hope Mayweather will be stupid enough to stay in the ring until a young fighter will rise to clean his clock.

  45. Sunny says:

The fact that he is asian and is leading the Knicks to victories when all the other black players couldn’t step up has a lot to do with it. And in a sport where I get excited to see a white guy on the court, its nice to see someone else get the spotlight for a change. But the basis of the argument is that he is kicking ass right now, being asian just makes the news more interesting.

  46. Bruce says:

Maybe Floyd is having the same feelings many whites had years age when Afican Americans were showing thier skills. People better get used to it

    1. Knowledge says:

Oh, yeah, because we all know that blacks achieved their certain sports domination solely based upon skill (Thank affirmative action).

  47. Glev says:

This is why even boxers at the highest level should be required to wear protective headgear.

    1. greene opinion says:

      LOL!

  48. henry uphill says:

Exactly there are many black players all good. The fact that he is asian makes it all the more hyped because there is only one.. RE–T==ARD

  49. Graves says:

The word Hypocrite comes to mind as well as a few others but I think this fits best.

  50. Vic Damone says:

The root of the “hype” is that he came out of nowhere to provide the knicks a stay of execution during a slow sports cycle. Victor Cruz was given a lot of hype too…did floyd have a problem with that? The fact that he played at harvard and is asian may make the story that much more interesting b/c he is different from everyone else in the league. How is that being spun into a bad thing? Isn’t diversity supposed to be good?

    1. greene opinion says:

Amen Bubba! I am probably older than all of you and was alive when Dr King was killed. I thought all that racist crap ended in the early 70’s. It seems that kids (under 50) are more racist now than ever. Maybe they should all get a hood and a cross to burn. Who the heck cares about this crap? Knicks are winning.
