NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A five-year-old girl is fighting for her life after being stabbed in her home in the Bronx.

It happened just after 10 p.m. on Friday at her Holland Avenue home in the Van Nest section.

The child, who is believed to be one of six children of Yemeni immigrant parents, was running with the knife when she fell and impaled herself in the chest, police said. She’s in critical condition at Jacobi Medical Center.

No charges are expected.
