Police: L.I. Man Charged With DWI After Driving With Kids In Truck Bed

AMITYVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) --  A Massapequa man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly driving while intoxicated after police said they saw him driving with his two kids in the bed of his pickup truck.

Just before 11 p.m. Sunday in Amityville, an officer spotted a Dodge Dakota pickup truck headed north on Broadway with a 7-year-old and 13-year-old riding in the bed of the truck, Suffolk County police said.

Cops pulled over the driver, 33-year-old Carlos Rivera, and arrested him after discovering that he had been drinking, police said.

The two kids in the bed of the truck were Rivera's sons.

Rivera was charged with DWI with a child passenger 15-years-old or younger, also known as Leandra's Law and endangering the welfare of a child.

He's set to be arraigned Monday.
