Nets Go All Out To Wish Impending Free-Agent Deron Williams A Happy Birthday

NEW YORK (WFAN) - It's been widely reported that superstar point guard Deron Williams will choose either the Nets or the Mavericks when he becomes a free agent on July 1st.

And it's no secret that the Nets really want the 28-year-old to join them at the Barclays Center as they begin their venture to Brooklyn.

To show how much they desire Williams' services for next season, they gave him an extra-special present for his birthday on Tuesday.

In a creative -- yet highly unconventional -- way of displaying their fondness for the three-time NBA All-Star,  the Nets sent a truck to sit outside Williams' Manhattan apartment. The facade of the truck read "HAPPY BIRTHDAY DERON! From your Brooklyn family."

The Nets weren't shy about the gesture, either, as the team proudly tweeted a picture of the truck, along with the message "#HappyBdayDWill."

It's no wonder that the Nets are going all out in their pursuit of Williams, who joined the Nets in 2011 after six seasons in Utah. The two-time All-NBA second-team selection was masterful on the court for New Jersey last season, averaging 21 points and 8.7 assists in 55 games.

Do you like this gesture, or do you feel that it's an act of desperation that makes the team look foolish? Sound off with your thoughts and comments below...
