Police: Selden Woman Charged With DWI After Crashing Into Cop Car

CENTEREACH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Selden woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing her car into a police vehicle Tuesday night, Suffolk County Police said.

Laurie Phillips, 47, was driving westbound on Route 25 in Centereach around 9:35 p.m. when she rear-ended Officer Andrew DeRose's car which was stopped at a red light, police said.

DeRose was on patrol with the Anti-Aggressive Driving Task Force at the time of the accident.

DeRose was taken to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson where he was treated for minor injuries and released. Phillips was not injured.

Phillips was charged with driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction in 10 years.

She was also issued traffic summonses for speeding and using a cell phone without a hands-free device.

Phillips is set to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
