Tri-State Area Braces For Second Heat Wave Of The Summer
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The second heat wave of the summer is on tap for the Tri-State area.
Forecasters are predicting another round of severe heat and stifling humidity for the first weekend before the July Fourth holiday.
The heat will begin to build on Thursday, reaching a high of 90, before the humidity rolls in on Friday and sticks through the weekend.
1010 WINS’ John Montone reports
Temperatures will climb into the mid-90s Friday and stay that way for a few days. Combined with the humidity, it will feel like 100 degrees.
An excessive heat warning will take effect from noon Friday until 8 p.m. Sunday for parts of New Jersey. More watches and warnings may be issued for other parts of the Tri-State area.
If you’re looking for some relief from the heat, there’s some good news. New York City outdoor pools opened for the season Thursday.
Last week, after three days of intense heat, dangerous storms moved through the area, bringing some welcome relief but also serious downpours and intense lightning. The storms created flash floods, brought down trees, and downed power lines in various spots.
According to AccuWeather, thunderstorms may come through the area this weekend.
