The off-duty agent and his wife were awoken by the sounds of someone trying to break into their red Lexus that was parked outside their home, sources told 1010 WINS.

That's when the agent looked out his window, saw the three suspects around his car, took out his standard issue weapon and opened fire, sources said.

At least one of the suspects was shot in the back, the FBI confirmed.

No one else was hurt. The suspects fled in a dark-colored sedan.

Police are trying to determine if a man who later came to Brookdale hospital with a gunshot wound to the lower back is the suspect who was wounded.

The NYPD has sealed off 130th Street and Sutter Avenue as police and the FBI continue to investigate.
