Somers' Monologue: Mets Stuck In Neutral At Deadline

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Now you see them, now you don't.

The trade deadline has come and gone, and so have a number of ballplayers now with new zip codes.

First of all, how about those the Mets, who decided "Who needs all the paperwork?"

Sandy Alderson & Co. remained in neutral -- neither buyers nor sellers. He thinks the Amazin's still have a chance. That remains to be seen.

The blockbuster rumor of the day: Ryan Dempster to the Yankees, because you can never have enough guys with ERAs over 4.00. (OK, that was last season. His 2.25 ERA this year is pretty nice.)

He would have been insurance for Andy Pettitte and everybody else not going by the name of Sabathia.

Oh, and Dwight Howard wants to know why he wasn't traded on Tuesday.
