NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — A suspect has been indicted in the murder of a 21-year-old Villanova University student last summer.

Ernest Williams, 21, was indicted by an Essex County grand jury this week in the murder of Brian Schiavetti of Ridgewood, Conn.

Schiavetti was shot and killed during an attempted robbery in Montclair, N.J., on July, 22, 2012. He was found dead around 6:40 p.m. that day in a first-floor hallway of an apartment building at 25 William St.

He had been shot multiple times, police said.

Williams was charged with murder, along with robbery and weapons offenses. He was set to be arraigned on the charges in the indictment at 9 a.m. April 2 before Essex County Judge Peter Vazquez.

Williams has been held since last summer on $750,000 bond.

A second defendant in the case, James Pitts, 22, was also indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to violate narcotics laws.
