Police Probe Officers' Deadly Shooting Of Man Who Allegedly Stabbed Roommate
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were investigating Saturday morning, after officers shot and killed a man who stabbed his roommate in the shoulder in Brooklyn.
Around 8 p.m. Friday, police came to the Zen Spa at 541 Court St., on the cusp of Carroll Gardens and Red Hook, Brooklyn, after receiving reports that a man had been stabbed. Police found the man inside the spa, and he told them his roommate had stabbed him after a quarrel in their second-floor apartment upstairs.
The officers and the victim walked out of the spa, only to find the suspect walking up to them with the knife in his hand. When they ordered him to drop the weapon, the man lunged at the officers.
The officers fired, striking the 28-year-old man in the torso. He was pronounced dead at Lutheran Medical Center soon afterward, police said.
The stabbing victim, a 53-year-old man, was taken to Lutheran Medical Center for a stab wound to his shoulder. An officer was taken to Long Island College Hospital to be treated for ringing in the ears from the gun shots.
A knife was recovered at the scene.
Police as of Saturday morning had not released the suspect's name, pending family notification.
