NYC Ranked No. 4 For Best Pizza In The U.S. By TripAdvisor Survey

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Where can you find the best pizza in America? According to a popular travel website, it's not New York City.

TripAdvisor released its list of the top 10 U.S. cities for pizza based on reviews and opinions by travelers.

The top spot for a slice was San Diego, California followed by Las Vegas and Boston. New York City came in fourth.

"With outstanding pizzerias seemingly at every corner, diners will enjoy the city's trademark thin crunchy crust, gooey cheese and savory toppings," TripAdvisor said about New York's pizza in the release.

Among the famous places mentioned to grab a slice were Lombardi's on Spring Street, Di Fara's in Brooklyn and Patsy's in Midtown.

Even though New York City didn't take the No. 1 spot, many travelers compared the pizza in San Diego, Las Vegas and other cities on the list to the Big Apple.

According to the release, one TripAdvisor traveler in San Diego said, "The pizza was just as good as being home in New York."

Another traveler in Las Vegas said the pizza there was like "Brooklyn pizza in the desert."

TripAdvisor said the top spots were determined based on the highest average rating by city for all restaurants that serve pizza.

Other cities that made the list include Austin, San Francisco, Indianapolis, Philadelphia and Phoenix.
