Arrest Made In Fatal Bronx Hit-And-Run

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run early Saturday morning in the Bronx.

Leroy Forest, 31, is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident after he struck Abigail Lino, 24, of Harlem, police said.

The accident occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Bruckner Boulevard and Austin Place in Mott Haven. Lino, the mother of a 3-year-old boy, was pronounced dead at the scene.

As they gathered outside, somebody said a man with a gun had been spotted nearby, witnesses said. Everyone started running, and some of the nightclub patrons, including Lino, ran across Bruckner Boulevard, according to a witness.

Lino had a 3-year-old son and also cared for a special-needs sister, friends said.

"She took care of (her son), and she worked UPS, and she worked health care -- at 24 years old," a friend said. "She played basketball. She was a hardworking person."
