Hugh Jackman’s Stalker Set Free After Sentencing
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Hugh Jackman’s stalker was sentenced to six months behind bars Monday — but she’s already served twice that.
Katherine Thurston, who spent a year in jail because she could not post bail, was also ordered to stay away from “The Wolverine” star for eight years and given five months probation, WCBS 880’s Irene Cornell reported. All the indigent and mentally disturbed woman had to do at her sentencing in Manhattan before being set free was show the judge she has a one-way ticket back home to California, and she was turned loose.
Her attorney said Thurston be flying out of New York on Tuesday morning.
Thurston, 46, became the latest celebrity stalker to be locked up after following Jackman to a Greenwich Village gym, tossing an electric razor filled with hair — reportedly pubic hair — at him and demanding that he marry her.
Police said Thurston was following Jackman for more than a year. He had spotted her outside his daughter’s school and near his home.
