Forensic Pathologist Takes Stand In Gigi Jordan Trial

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The defense for a millionaire mother who has admitted to killing her autistic child with prescription pills called a medical expert the stand-- the forensic pathologist who reviewed slides taken during the autopsy on 8-year-old Jude.

It is the doctor's testimony that he observed scarring consistent with sexual abuse at some time in boy's short life, WCBS 880's Irene Cornell reported.

As Cornell reported, this is crucial to Jordan's defense that she acted under extreme emotional disturbance when she poisoned her autistic child.

The difference between a murder conviction and manslaughter depends on whether she can prove that her emotional state was based on some semblance of reality.

It was her belief that her son was sexually abused, that her ex-husband was plotting to murder the two of them and that she intended to kill herself along with the boy.

Jordan testified earlier that, though the boy was nonverbal, he learned to communicate with her by typing on a laptop and BlackBerry. She said that is how Jude told her he wanted to die and that his father and others had sexually abused him with bizarre satanic elements — from being forced to drink blood and kill animals to being zapped with electricity.
