Tiki: I Have Nothing Against Coughlin And Giants, And I'm Completely Objective

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- On Monday, CBS Sports Radio host and former Giants running back Tiki Barber told The Beast 980 radio in Los Angeles that Tom Coughlin should be fired after the season.

"At some point, it trickles uphill and it has to be Tom Coughlin's responsibility," Barber told the radio station. "I've held off on saying it, but it is time for them to make a change at head coach."

The comments got a huge reaction, as Barber has been criticized many times over the years for allegedly going after the Giants unfairly and having resentment toward both Coughlin and his former organization.

The former Pro Bowler joined WFAN co-hosts Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton on Tuesday and set the record straight: He has nothing against Coughlin or the Giants and his opinion is completely objective.

"I'm eight years removed from the New York Giants," Barber, who played for the Giants from 1997-2006, told Boomer & Carton. "Look, I had a great working relationship with Tom Coughlin ... I have an opinion. It's my job to have an opinion. That's what (CBS executives) hired me to be.

"I don't care if you don't agree with my opinion, but the personal reaction that comes from, mostly the media here in New York ... put me on the back page?"

After winning three straight games to improve to 3-2, New York has dropped five straight.

Coughlin has been the Giants' coach since 2004. In 2013 he suffered his first losing season (7-9) since he went 6-10 in his first season with the organization.
