Boomer & Carton kicked off Thursday's Morning Extravaganza by talking about the news that has certainly brought smiles to the faces of Mets fans both near and far.

Mike Piazza has been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame and will be inducted this summer. Now, Boomer wants the Mets to go ahead and retire Piazza's No. 31 jersey and give him a statue outside Citi Field.

We also heard about Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks after they went down to South Beach on Wednesday and beat the Heat for their third straight win, That prompted Boomer to send thanks to his buddy "big, fat Charles Barkley."

As for the Giants coaching search, Ben McAdoo is suddenly a very desirable candidate as the Eagles have expressed interest in talking with Big Blue's offensive coordinator. Boomer then threw the name Nick Saban out as a possible Tom Coughlin replacement.

And there you have it.
