Police: Suspect Arrested In Baseball Bat Beating Of Brooklyn Man

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have arrested a suspect who they said beat a man with a baseball bat on the street in broad daylight in Brooklyn.

Hakeem Drawhorn, 30, has been charged with attempted murder, police said.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. on Aug. 7.

Police said the victim, identified as 49-year-old Wade Dixon, was walking north on Albany Avenue when an unknown man walked up to him from behind and struck him in the head with a bat.

When the victim fell to the ground, police said the suspect kept beating his head and body with the bat. He then fled west on Rutland Road.

The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in critical condition, but police said Dixon later died of his injuries.

Police said the suspect was seen on surveillance video after the incident.
