LISTEN: Eli Manning Discusses Win Over Lions, Playing Eagles On Short Week
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- The Giants have won eight of their last nine games, and their latest victory was just like practically every one before it -- tight.
New York (10-4) beat Detroit 17-6 on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. The Giants' lead was just 10-6 before Odell Beckham Jr. scored on a one-handed, 4-yard grab from Eli Manning with 5:47 to play in the fourth quarter.
"I thought it was a good victory," Manning said during his weekly appearance on Mike Francesa's WFAN show Monday. "We knew it was going to be tough. Both teams have been kind of playing pretty similar football -- low scoring, good defense, just being able to win tight games and close games. We kind of knew it might be that close, low-scoring game, which it was."
The Giants will next face the Eagles on Thursday night. Manning said preparation will be key to winning a road game on a short week.

"A lot of it is just going to be mental preparation," he said. "We probably won't even get on the practice field and do anything live, and probably won't throw a ball maybe not until gameday."
Manning again praised his defense, which held the Lions to a pair of field goals. The Giants have allowed just 13 points in their past two games.
"They're really playing great football," Manning said. "They're getting turnovers. They're stopping the run. They're getting to the quarterback, playing tight coverage on the secondary. So it's fun. It's fun to watch them play, and we build off their energy. We've got to help them out. We've got to score points and get leads and try to hatch the long drives and protect the football."
