Ask a local where to go on a ‘date to impress’, and Amanda’s Restaurant will likely be the response. Situated in an elegantly restored brownstone, Amanda’s classy decor and New American cuisine will delight on a first date or anniversary dinner. If your date doesn’t mind an early start time, call ahead and reserve a table at 5:00 or 5:30 p.m. for the Early Dinner Special: 3-course dinner for two at $32 (Monday-Saturday). It’s a smaller menu, but all the best, seasonal dishes are offered (as well as their amazing key lime pie for dessert). And you won’t be rushed out the door for the late evening dinner crowd.

Once you’re seated, share bourbon-glazed donuts to start ($8), and then go for the variety of tasty eggs benedict dishes that await. This hole in the wall restaurant on the corner of 4th and Bushwisk street is a French-food lovers’ paradise. The tightly situated tables, candle light, and paintings strewed across the walls add to the quaint romantic vibe you’ll feel as soon as you step in. It’s another BYOB restaurant (which NEVER gets old) so stop at a liquor store for a bottle of wine to go along with your plates. Make sure you get the French Onion Soup ($8) before you dive into their many varieties of mussel dishes. It’s rich, warm and the cheese is so perfectly broiled on top – you’ll pick all of it off your bowl before they take the dish away.
